戦後最年少監督としてのデビュー作。大人の社会規範に反発し、反社会的な遊戯にふける大学生4人。しかし彼らの関係性すらもその経済的格差からくる挫折感によって歪められ、予期せぬ破滅への道を辿っていく。劇中に、それらしいニュアンスや情感が現れることを嫌った吉田は、あえて全篇を75mmレンズ1本で撮影した。

The debut work from the youngest director then at work in postwar Japan. Four aimless university students rebel against the norms of adult society by indulging in antisocial “games.” Soon, however, their relationship is threatened by frustrations resulting from their differing economic backgrounds, leading them down an unexpected path to ruin. Harboring a distaste for superficiality and overly dramatized emotion, Yoshida deliberately shot the entire film using a single 75mm lens.
